Finally the people of Emmerdale are becoming fully aware of what kind of person Tom King (James Chase) really is, after Belle (Eden Taylor-Draper) bravely opened up to Charity (Emma Atkins) about the abuse that she’s endured from him since before they were married.
The turning point for Belle came after realising that Tom was using Amelia Spencer (Daisy Campbell) to get at her.
Knowing what Tom is capable of, Belle was terrified about what could happen to Amelia, while Tom made it very clear that he thought they ‘belonged together’ and he would never give up on her.
After Charity learned what had been happening, confirming her worst fears about Tom’s coercive and controlling behaviour, she soon filled the rest of the family in on what Tom had been doing.
The Dingles were obviously raging, but Belle insisted she didn’t want the police involved.
Tom realised that it was only a matter of time before some Dingle justice was heading his way, most likely from Cain (Jeff Hordley), and in upcoming episodes he tries to take steps to hide what he’s been doing.
He filled Belle’s house with hidden cameras and he urgently dismantles them, knowing how bad it will look if Belle’s family find the surveillance equipment.
Meanwhile he sets about trying to get what support he can by telling his uncle Jimmy King (Nick Miles) that Belle is spreading lies that he abused her. Jimmy falls for this and offers his support.
Apart from Jimmy, the tide has definitely turned against Tom. When Vanessa (Michelle Hardwick) and Rhona (Zoe Henry) hear about the hell that he put Belle through they know they can’t continue to employ him at the vet’s – particularly after Belle’s allegation that he mistreated their dog, Piper, on various occasions and deliberately ran her over.
So Tom is dismissed from his job with immediate effect.
Soon after that, Jimmy is concerned when Tom vanishes from the village, especially knowing that Cain is on the warpath. Is this the end for Tom?
