SOAP SHOCK Emmerdale legend to make shock return after five years in ‘poignant’ storyline

THE star's character last appeared on screens in 2019.

EMMERDALE’S Belle Dingle got the devastating news that her dad Zak Dingle will miss her wedding tonight – but The Sun can exclusively reveal that her mother won’t.

The businesswoman – who is played by actress Eden Taylor-Draper in the ITV soap – lost her mum Lisa in 2019 to a terminal heart condition.

In tonight’s episode Belle discovered that her dad Zak will miss her wedding after injuring himself in Scotland.

The news sent her into a spiral, upset that neither of her parents will be at her wedding and it caused soon to be husband Tom King to show his true colours.

He lashed out at her for not realising that both of his parents were dead too, leaving her feeling even more guilty.

However The Sun can reveal that actress Jane Cox will make a return to Emmerdale for the episode – of a fashion.

A source revealed: “Belle’s facing a horrible future as Tom’s true colours emerge but her mum Lisa will be there for her in spirit.

“Actress Jane Cox has reprised her role in a special way for the surprise appearance.

“It really is one of the most poignant moments seen in Emmerdale.

“Jane was more than happy to make the return in her own special way but sadly she didn’t get to visit the set and reunite with her on-screen daughter in person.”

Actress Jane previously reprised her role in a series of voice over appearances when Belle suffered a mental breakdown.

News of her return comes after the tragic death of her on-screen husband actor Steve Halliwell, who played Zak Dingle.

Steve passed away in December aged 77 and his funeral took place last month.

Eden revealed the wedding scenes were filmed the day after the funeral, saying during a press event: “We had the funeral yesterday and all the Dingles went, it was beautiful.

“Steve is obviously such a big part of our lives and it’s lovely being here on set because he’s still with us in every single moment.”
