SPEAKING OUT ‘Getting silly now!’ rage Emmerdale fans as they call out glaring blunder with Caleb, Nicky and Ruby Milligan
Emmerdale's latest affair storyline just got a whole lot more complicated.
EMMERDALE fans have called out a ‘silly’ situation between Caleb, Nicky and Ruby Milligan.
Fans of the ITV soap were given their first glimpse of Caleb’s estranged-wife earlier this month.
Caleb has been having an affair with Tracy Robinson, and her husband Nate barged into Caleb’s home hoping to catch them mid-romp in a recent episode.
But he and viewers got a shock when it turned out Caleb was snogging a different blonde – his former spouse.
Ruby has decided to hang around the village and spend time with son Nicky.
But some Emmerdale viewers have been left distracted by the fact the three members of the same family have totally different accents.
While Nicky has a Geordie accent and Caleb has a more Yorkshire twang, Ruby sounds like she’s from much further south.
Writing on a soap fan forum, one viewer said: “Not being funny but this is getting silly.
“Couldn’t they find actors with the same accent or actors that could at least put on the same accent.”
Another added: “They even had to mention Nicky’s accent a few days ago to bring up the fact none of the family have the same accent!”
However another defended the casting saying: “My brother is Scottish, wife from London and son born and brought up in the West Country is more than a bit “ooh aaar”, it happens!”
Others were more annoyed by the characters’ general personalities than their accents.
One wrote: “I can’t stand Ruby! She’s just too much, far too familiar and OTT. I wish she’d get the hint and get back where she came from.”
Another added: “The wife is even more annoying than Tracy. I didn’t think that could be possible.”
A fellow viewer commented: “No redeeming qualities at all so far. Well, I do like that she’s wiped the smug smile off Tracy’s face, but that’s unintentional. I cringed through her scenes tonight.”
