The Sun exclusively revealed last year that Amy was in talks with Strictly bosses amid her heartbreak.

The Crown’s Andrew had walked out on the actress just weeks before and had moved in with his BBC One Better co-star Leila Farzad, 40.

Insiders said the soap star – who has since appeared in the huge ITV drama Mr Bates vs. The Post Office – was thinking Strictly could give her “the fresh start she needs”.

It was also said Amy, 41, had been inspired by telly presenter Helen Skelton, who competed on Strictly in 2022 after her marriage ended painfully.

But a year on, Amy is back with Andrew and has confirmed to New! magazine that she ended up turning down the offer.

Telling the publication why, she said: “Never say never, but I don’t think it’s for me.

“I’m more the audience side of things – I enjoy watching it.”

Amy and Andrew ended their 11-year marriage in February 2023 following his affair with Leila, 42.

Earlier this month, however, Amy confirmed they are still married while speaking to The Sunday Times about her finances.

Talking about her yearly salary, Amy said: “Generally speaking, in the last financial year — what can I tell you? — below a hundred grand, but I’m married so it all goes into one pot. So it’s not as scary because I can lean on that.”

Amy, who also starred in Downton Abbey, went on to confirm the couple still owned the family home together.

She explained: “I’m the joint owner of our comfortable family home in Buckinghamshire. We owned a smaller house before.”

This week, Amy was seen in public with Andrew for the first time since taking him back.

The couple were pictured on a family day out to a garden centre in Windsor and appeared in good spirits.
