VETTING PROCESS Emmerdale fans threaten to boycott soap as they ‘rumble’ Tom’s next victim after spotting string of red flags

Belle put her foot down in Wednesday's episode, and her husband clearly didn't like it.

EMMERDALE fans have threatened to boycott the soap as they ‘rumble’ Tom’s next victim after spotting a string of red flags.

The vet – played by James Chase – has been displaying abusive behaviour towards his new wife Belle Dingle since their wedding day earlier this year.

During Wednesday’s episode, Belle was at home when Tom arrived with an adorable dog called Piper under his arm.

Tom explained how Piper’s elderly owner had died, and their daughter had wanted to put Piper down.

Belle was horrified and went to get the pup some water before asking Tom what he planned to do with the pooch.

Tom replied: “Why, I thought that was obvious.”

In a later scene, Tom made it clear he wanted to keep Piper but Belle insisted they were both too busy with their jobs to give the dog the attention it needed.

But regarding her job at Take a Vow, Tom said: “I earn enough for us both, for all three of us.

“I got you Piper to cheer you up, come on how can you say no to this face?”

But Belle was adamant and Tom looked far from impressed.

However, Emmerdale fans were relieved the dog might get rehomed elsewhere, as they feared what the vet might do to Piper as part of his manipulation and controlling behaviour of Belle.

Taking to X – formerly Twitter – one wrote: “If anything happens to Piper the dog, I swear I’ll stop watching.”

Another added: “swear to god if Tom does something to Piper and make it seem like it’s Belle’s fault then I will go off!!! Don’t mess with the pooch!!!! Rehome rehome rehome!!!”

A third tweeted a screenshot of the dog and wrote: “Poor Piper. She’s screaming with her eyes ‘Get me out of here’ . Somebody! Anybody!”

Meanwhile a fourth shared: “Get out while you can Piper!!”

Emmerdale airs on ITV1 and is available on ITVX.
