Where have ITV Emmerdale fans seen Caleb’s wife Ruby before? The Bill’s Beth Cordingly makes debut

Emmerdale aired an explosive twist on Thursday night as Caleb’s wife, Ruby Fox-Milligan, made a dramatic debut.

Only recently on the ITV soap, Nate Robinson has been suspicious of wife Tracy Metcalfe. Fans will recall that Caleb and Tracy have embarked in a shock affair despite the latter being newly married to Nate, whose uncle is Caleb. On Christmas Day, the duo were rumbled by a shocked Moira Dingle, who ordered Caleb to end his relationship with Tracy.

After being rumbled, Caleb put an end to their affair, leaving Tracy both devastated and humiliated. Later, Tracy decided to get revenge by blackmailing Caleb into supporting her nursery project or she would tell his brother Cain Dingle. Later, Tracy announced in the pub to her stunned family that Caleb was investing in her nursery, leaving Moira suspicious and Caleb seriously unimpressed.

However, despite appearing to be at loggerheads with their affair over, the two couldn’t resist each other as they embarked on their affair once again earlier this month. Earlier this week, Nate started to get suspicious, especially after Tracy missed their romantic lunch rendezvous and he later discovered deleted texts to Caleb on her phone.

On Thursday’s episode, a furious Nate was determined to catch Tracy and Caleb in the act as he headed over to the house followed by a panicked Nicky and Moira. Nate spotted Caleb kissing a blonde woman on his sofa, thinking it was Tracy, as he shouted for him to get off her.

However, it was revealed that it was a mystery blonde woman, not Tracy, who was then confirmed to be Caleb’s wife Ruby as she made her introductions to the stunned family members. It was revealed last year that Beth Cordingly would be playing Caleb’s wife Ruby.

Viewers might have seen actress Beth, 47, before as this isn’t her first time appearing on ITV or TV. Outside of her new role in Emmerdale, Beth is best known for The Bill, where she played PC Kerry Young from 2002 until 2004. Since the hit ITV police drama, Beth has appeared in EastEnders in 2017 as Debbie Morton, Suspects in 2016 as Chrissy and The Burning Girls in 2023 as Emma Harper.

Talking about joining the soap last year, Beth said: “I’m delighted to be joining the cast of Emmerdale, it’s an enormous privilege and Ruby is a dream role. She’s a firecracker and a trouble-maker and I think people will love her or hate her, and I can’t wait to get stuck in with this fabulous cast.”
