The Woolpack manager warned her family that they could also be in danger.

After romping with Dr Liam Cavanagh, Chas Dingle was warned that her health may be in danger when the GP found a lump in her breast.

The Woolpack bar manager tried to avoid reality before she had no other choice but to face the music with Liam and, eventually, Lydia Dingle’s support.

Chas’ worries grew when she was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer and, reminded of the secrecy her mother Faith maintained around her own breast cancer diagnosis, she decided to open up to the rest of the Dingles.

This then prompted her to warn the men in her family, more particularly her brothers Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) and Caleb Miligan (Will Ash), along with her son, Aaron (Danny Miller).

Chas urged the three men to get checked to figure out if they may have the BRCA2 gene, which was pointed out as the cause of her health ordeal.

Next week on ITV, as she continues treatment for her cancer, unlike Faith Dingle who opted to end her life on her own terms, Chas makes a huge decision.

But she first makes a big discovery when Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) accidentally reveals to her that Aaron has no intention of getting the BRCA2 gene test.

Fuming at Vinny, Lydia (Karen Blick) intervenes and tells Aaron about Chas’ appointment that day.

Soon, a nervous Chas is bolstered by Aaron’s support as he joins her for the hospital appointment and she reveals her intention to have a double mastectomy.

Later, Chas admits how afraid she is and is comforted as she finally gives in to tears.

In another twist, Aaron eventually requests his referral for the gene test.

But what will be found?

A double mastectomy refers to an operation to remove both breasts and the procedure can be used to treat breast cancer in women as well as men.

The operation, according to the NHS, “takes about 90 minutes, and most people go home the following day.”

Anybody who has gone through a single or double mastectomy may need four to six weeks to recover from the procedure.

Could somebody else in her family encounter their own cancer ordeal?

Emmerdale airs weeknights from 7.30pm on ITV.
